The papers of Col. Neilson date from 1779 to 1833 and include correspondence, financial documents, legal documents, real estate papers, toasts and other items relating to a visit to New Brunswick by John Adams in 1797, and Neilson's estate papers. Among the items present here in Col. Neilson's papers are a 1783 military receipt, the 1791 registration document for the sloop James, a 1791 bond relating to a lottery, a 1791 letter from P[eter] Wilson (and Neilson's draft response) concerning the presidency of Queens College, a 1797 letter from Robert Finley, and an 1800 receipt for a slave.
