The rest of Nicholas Lansingh's letters to John predominantly center on John's possible decision to follow the study of "divinity" and about the possibility of John taking a position with the Corporation as tutor. In his letters he speaks about his own perspective of religion and offers religious advice. The letters regarding the possible employment of John show that John had not immediately responded to the corporation and some of the reasons may be deduced from other letters written to John.

Jacob Hardenbergh talks about Bogart's illness and how it might affect his choice in deciding to tutor or pursue religious studies. John Taylor, on the other hand firsts asks John to stay on at New Brunswick to tutor, but then later seems to be persuading John to consider the Corporation's offer.
